PETALING JAYA: Nine witnesses have given their statements to the police in their investigation into an incident where a senior citizen was allegedly roughed up by Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) officers during a round up of stray dogs.

"PJ police have called nine witnesses for statements regarding this case, including members of the public who witnessed the incident. We are in the process of completing investigations and will refer it to the deputy public prosecutor soon," said Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid when contacted.

Previously, police had confirmed that the man was also being investigated for preventing MBPJ officers from carrying out their duties.

There had been reports that a senior citizen was roughed up during a dog-catching operation in Taman Kanagapuram.

Video footage of the incident, which occurred on March 22, had been posted on social media.

Patrick Khoo, 69, logged a report claiming that dog catchers had swiped the dog-catching loop he was holding against the left side of his face when a tussle broke out.

Khoo had also lodged a police report at the Brickfields district police headquarters on March 24.
